The Managing Director at leading North Wales manufacturer LCA Group, Alan Sheppard, has been named as one of the top 100 people in UK manufacturing.
The 2018 “Manufacturer Top 100” is one of the industry’s leading awards celebrating those making lasting contributions to manufacturing, and Alan was joined by some of the nation’s most inspiring leaders at the event, which was held at the Exhibition Centre in Liverpool.
The list - now in its fifth year - salutes innovators in manufacturing and more than 250 individuals nationally were nominated by The Manufacturer readers. Only then was the list narrowed down to form this year’s top 100 cohort.
Alan now joins the alumni list alongside 500 others including top names in the industry Lord Anthony Bamford and Dr Hamid Mughal with those chosen asked to sign a pledge of commitment to the sector.
Speaking after the event Alan said: “I felt very honoured and privileged to be named in The Manufacturer’s Top 100 list and it’s fantastic recognition for those serving in the industry.”
In late 2017, the Hawarden electrical engineering firm relocated to a state-of-the-art, multi-million-pound facility in North Wales and invested almost half a million pounds in a UK-first Rittal Automation Systems 3D laser machining centre.
Alan continued: “Over the last year, we’ve worked incredibly hard to bring innovation to such a historically traditional industry and we’re continuing to push the boundaries in terms of what can be achieved in our sector.
“We’re already working towards the Top 100 pledge as we continue champion STEM education and apprenticeships.
“Whilst it was fantastic to be named among such a prestigious list of 100 people and an alumni of incredible names in manufacturing, my own Top 100 – the amazing team that makes LCA what it is – are all back in the manufacturing facility and offices and I would like to dedicate this award to each and every one of them!”
Earlier this year, LCA was named the most innovative business in North Wales at the North Wales Business Leader Awards. It also made the final shortlists in Company of the Year, Manufacturer of the Year, Technology Company of the Year, and Operations Director Paul Griffiths made the six-person shortlist for Business Leader of the Year.
