Bebington Glazing appoints new administrator following apprenticeship scheme

""

Bebington Glazing has welcomed a new administrator to its expanding team as part of continued company growth.

After successfully completing a 12 month apprenticeship at the Wirral-based firm, Alisha McGraa, 18, has been appointed to assist MD Kay Finlay and
the team in the day-to-day office management.

Having gained a Level 2 NVQ in Business and Administration, and undertook work experience at a local health and safety firm prior to the yearlong scheme – Alisha brings with her a wealth of industry specific knowledge.

She said: “I’m thrilled to have joined the team at Bebington Glazing as a full time member of staff. Not only did the apprenticeship open career prospects, it also equipped me with industry experience, which can’t be taught on an academic level. The scheme allowed me to put my college
education into practise and explore the trade in more depth.

“Together with my employment, I have recently gone back to college to study an AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) course so that I can hopefully focus my role on the accounting and managing side of the business in the future.“

Located within New Ferry, Bebington Glazing was founded on more than 37 years’ experience and is renowned across the North West for its bespoke glass installation and repairs on both residential and commercial properties. In a bid to encourage ‘the next generation’ to pursue a career in the construction industry, the firm introduced an apprenticeship scheme in 2014.

Managing Director Kay Finlay added: “It gives us a great sense of pride to have welcomed Alisha on board – she certainly is a valuable addition to the team. As one of the first students to undertake the apprenticeship, Alisha is a brilliant example of how work based learning can help young people to climb the career ladder. We are looking forward to watching many more transitions in the near future.

“Recently, I was surprised to discover figures that stated that women represented only 12.2% of professionals in the construction workforce. With that in mind, I think it’s extremely important to give trained and skilful women like Alisha the opportunity to work in the industry.“
