Suits Me’ has just been added to the list of Card and Payments Award winners, beating the likes of American Express, Lloyds Bank and Airplus to scoop a prestigious accolade for its innovative banking solution designed specifically for temporary workers.

Held last night at the famous Grosvenor House Hotel in London and hosted by writer and comedian Simon Evans, the awards showcased the very best of the British financial and banking services on offer in this part of the UK financial sector.

In a joint submission with card provider Contis Group, Suits Me was announced as winner of the Best Business Card programme for demonstrating a pioneering card programme focussed on delivering value to users, managing costs and driving savings.

Suits Me serves as an alternative to traditional banking, catering to the 1.5 million ‘underbanked’ individuals in the UK – ultimately bringing freedom, choice and financial inclusion to the fore with a pre-paid VISA debit card and membership benefits, including free life and personal accident cover and cashback rewards.

Since partnering with Contis Group to deliver the programme, Suits Me has provided recruitment agencies with a solution to recruit temporary workers without basic banking facilities, champion equal opportunities and provide the same financial standing for all.

Speaking at the ceremony after receiving the award, Phil McDonald, Managing Director of Suits Me, said: “It is great to see our efforts recognised through the Card and Payments Best Business Card Programme award.

“From our research, we discovered that 12% of temporary workers were sharing accounts, meaning that, based on ONS figures for UK temporary workers, this figure could be over 190,000 nationally.

“This award serves as testament to the hard work we are doing to change attitudes and perceptions in the temporary recruitment industry, bringing light to a frequently overlooked underworld of financial exclusion. I look forward to seeing the programme develop even further.”

Peter Cox, Chairman and Chief Executive of Contis Group, echoed: “I am delighted to receive this award on behalf of everyone who has worked so hard to get Suits Me Card to the market.

“Contis Group has always strived to bring innovative products to the market and it is great for our work to be recognised by our peers and the industry in general.”
